AT&T kicked off the work week on Monday by announcing the release of its latest tablet, the LG G Pad X 10.1. Set to launch on September 4, the tablet runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and features a 10.1-inch display.

Although the hardware specifications are on par for a midrange tablet, the pre-installed software suite is what’s worth noting. The G Pad X 10.1 is AT&T’s first tablet to come loaded with the DirecTV Anywhere app, which lets subscribers of the service stream live TV or access their DVR.

The bundling of this app is a direct result of AT&T’s merger with DirecTV this past July. AT&T is now free to bundle its nationwide wireless service with DirecTV’s nationwide satellite TV service as part of a discounted plan that launched August 10. As other wireless carriers look to offer more valuable services for their customers, AT&T hopes its DirecTV bundle can help separate it from the rest of the pack.

Hardware features

Key features in the G Pad X 10.1 include a 2.2GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and a pair of cameras: 8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front-facing shooter.

The tablet comes with 32GB of internal storage capacity, as well as a microSD expansion card slot that lets you save up to 128GB for movies, music and apps. The battery is listed at a capacious 7,400mAh.
