Sharing the stage with the iPhone 5 today, Apple’s iPod range has received a major update, with a new, taller Nano design and a new-look iPod Touch.

The new iPod Nano has a taller design than the previous versions, with a 2.5-inch display in a body measuring 5.4mm in thickness. Apple keeps the design simple, with the volume rocker doubling as music control keys. Inside the Nano, Apple includes an FM radio and Bluetooth, plus a new Lightning connector port.
The iPod Touch moves even closer to the iPhone design than ever before, with a 4-inch display, a black or white aluminium body, a 5-megapixel camera with similar features to the iPhone 5 and a similar battery life, too: up to 40 hours of music playback. The iPod Touch also has a new wrist strap accessory, called iPod Loop.

Last year’s Apple A5 processor will power the iPod Touch, which Apple hopes will offer a solid gaming experience and deliver good performance in photography apps. The Touch will also have access to the Siri voice assistant that we first saw this time last year.
Apple will have its new iPods in stores in October. The iPod Touch will be priced at AU$329 and AU$439 for the 32GB and 64GB models, respectively. The smaller Nanos will cost AU$160 for a device with 16GB of storage.
