The Apple Watch is about to get a lot better. The Cupertino-based company on Tuesday announced that WatchOS 2.0, the first major update to the Apple Watch, will arrive on September 16.
Apple revealed that there are now over 10,000 apps for Apple Watch. The company also highlighted new apps that will arrive with the release of WatchOS 2.0, including Facebook Messenger, GoPro and AirStrip for health monitoring.
WatchOS version 2.0 will allow native apps on the watch. Apple has said that this should greatly improved performance and load times of apps. It will also allow developers to access the heart-rate monitor and other sensors for the first time. Other features include new watch faces, a special Nightstand mode and a Time Travel feature to look at upcoming appointments, alarms and events.
