Apple North America sales head leaves, to be replaced by Japan chief

The head of Apple’s North America sales, Zane Rowe, will be replaced by the current head of sales in Japan and Korea, according to Apple.

Speaking to Reuters in an interview published on Thursday, Apple confirmed that Rowe would be leaving Apple and be replaced by Doug Beck. The Apple spokesperson said that Beck “has done a great job helping to grow Apple’s business in Japan and Korea,” adding that his “role is expanding to include North America sales, as well.”

Apple hasn’t said why Rowe is leaving the company, but Beck has become a rising star at the company after helping Apple build its iPhone presence in Japan and Korea.

Word of Rowe’s departure comes just after Apple’s new head of retail, Angela Ahrendts, arrived at the iPhone maker. Apple has lacked a dedicated retail chief since the latter part of 2012.
