Apple adds Game Center section to App Store

As soon as iOS 4.1 was available for download, I, as did many gamers, immediately opened the Game Center App and created an account. Now, Apple has provided us with a dedicated section of the App Store that lists Game Center-compatible Apps.

The social network for games, Game Center gives developers the opportunity to add leader boards and achievements to their titles while providing users a way to connect and share their prowess with friends. Though iOS 4.1 has only been public for a day, several games have already included Game Center connectivity:

  • Real Racing
  • Flight Control
  • FarmVille
  • Zen Bound 2
  • Fieldrunners
  • Pac-Man
  • Touchgrind
  • And many more…

Expect to see many more of your favorites appear in the next couple days as developers add compatibility and Apple approves updates. Game Center is easy to set up. Simply enter your Apple ID, verify your e-mail address, and edit your profile. The App automatically finds the games on your iOS 4.1 device that are compatible and updates your profile accordingly. (Note: If you have any of the games on the Game Center list and they do not appear in your Game Center App, be sure you have the newest version of the game.)
