Tip of the Week

So I’ve been flying a lot lately and found it a real pain that I can’t use my sexy bluetooth headphones on the flight as once I go to airplane mode it nukes my bluetooth.
So I figured out how to do this. You all mentioned entering this mode before but I thought I would point out the huge benefit to this mode.

From your dialer call the number
“*#*#4636#*#*”
This will take you into the radio debug mode and yes you can really break your phone with this.
Go to “”Phone Info”” and then on the bottom select “”Turn off radio””

Presto – Your radio is down and bluetooth is up.

Do the same thing to enable the radio after you land.

Good afternoon, Android Atlas.

I’m running the Fresh rom on a rooted Sprint HTC Hero. I’d like to try some of the other roms available, but I don’t want to reinstall all my apps and associated preferences every time I install a new rom. Do you have any tips on how to back up and restore my apps in a batch?

Thanks!
Warhammer

Hey guys great show so far. Keep it up.

I’m shocked to hear you guys don’t have your Droid rooted so I want to share with you a guide that I used to root my phone:
http://www.droid-life.com/2010/07/08/how-to-root-android-2-1-and-install-android-2-2-on-motorola-droid/

One you are rooted these apps are a must have for rooted users:
Titanium backup. (Backup all of your apps and data)

SetCPU.
RomManager. (Allows you to change roms on the fly!!)
Wireless Tether.

One thing I believe you guys had wrong… well sort of. The hak5 guy said you needed to stop OTA manually and that is not true. Most ROMS disable that option and even if the ROM doesn’t do it… you will not be able to install the OTA since you don’t have the shipped version. You do get the notification but the installation fails.
If I wasn’t clear on something please let me know. I will be more than glad to help.

Keep up the good work!!!
Regards,
Joandy Iglesias
