Android 5.1 update due in early 2015, report claims

Android 5.0 Lollipop could soon see a minor update.

Google could release its first update to Android 5.0 Lollipop even before many smartphones and tablets receive the new OS. According to AndroidPit, Android 5.1 is due in the early months of 2015.

In addition to numerous bug fixes and minor tweaks, are improvements for notifications, connections and overall stability.

Perhaps the most noteworthy detail outed in the alleged change log is the return of silent mode. Absent in Android 5.0 , this may be among the only feature addition most users notice.

It’s not uncommon for Google to issue maintenance tweaks and minor updates in the months following a major Android release. With so many different Android handsets configured in different ways, a few kinks are expected and unavoidable.

As to the veracity of the report, it seems to fit, but only time will tell when Google rolls out its first update. I, for one, would welcome back silent mode.
