Amazon offers free online storage to Android phone buyers

Want a little reward for your next Android smartphone purchase? Amazon is tempting buyers with a promise of free Cloud Drive storage.

As part of its latest Cloud Drive promotion, the retail giant is doling out 50GB worth of free storage in return for buying select Android smartphones. The list of qualifying phones stretches out to five pages and includes the latest devices from Samsung, LG, Motorola, HTC, and other vendors, so you’re likely to find the brand and model that you want.

There is a catch, though. Yes, there’s always a catch.

Your free 50GB of space is good for one year only. Your online files won’t be deleted after the year is up, but you’ll need to renew and pay for a Cloud Drive subscription to access them. The annual rate for 50GB is $25.
