Amazon introduces design

Want to stand out in the Kindle crowd? You can design your own Origami or flat Kindle case from the Amazon website.

Amazon’s Kindle cases come in a variety of colours, but if you wanted to get more fancy, you had to find another case elsewhere. Amazon has now launched custom Kindle cases, allowing you to put a pretty picture on your Kindle case — either one of Amazon’s designs or a photo of your own.

This means that not only do you get a sweet Kindle case, but you get an “official” one — and the line includes the new Origami cases for the Kindle Fire HD, Kindle Fire HDX and Kindle Fire HDX 8.9. Prices range between US$54.99 for the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 Origami case and US$16.99 for the Kindle Paperwhite case.

The design can go on the front, back or both and is printed on to polyurethane; the service isn’t available for the leather cases.

Alas, you can only get the cases from the Amazon US website, which means that you’ll have to pay US shipping fees as well, but it would make a lovely personalised gift if you’re picking up a Kindle for Christmas.
