Aldi will be offering its own low-cost mobile plans using the Telstra network from early March.
Starting on 6 March, Aldi will join the ranks of low-cost mobile providers, as revealed by A Current Affair.
The German supermarket chain will use Telstra’s Next G network to deliver the data and calls. The Aldi Mobile site will have the full details soon, although at the moment it’s still just displaying a countdown timer.
Aldi will have two pay-as-you-go plans for AU$15 and AU$30. These will give you that amount of credit lasting a full year, with calls charged at AU$0.12 per minute, texts at the same cost and data at AU$0.05 per MB. These can be topped up at any time.
There is also an AU$35/month unlimited plan does what it says on the tin — unlimited calls and texts, with a respectable 4GB of data.
As reported on Ausdroid, Aldi will also be retailing low-cost phones with an AU$20 Onix feature phone and an AU$199 Bauhn 4.5-inch smartphone being at least part of the offering.
Customers will be able to purchase phones and top up plans directly from any of Aldi’s stores or online.
