If you’re looking for an Android device with a touch of style and at a price that likely won’t bust your budget, the $49.99 HTC One VX may do the trick. This midrange handset has just joined AT&T’s roster, apparently on sale today.
I first saw the HTC One VX at a special AT&T press event back in October. At the time neither AT&T nor HTC could provide a price or ship date for the phone, which is why when Android Central noticed that it had arrived on Ma Bell’s Web store, I was quite surprised. Due to its pedestrian components and features I had hoped its cost would be low. And indeed at just $50, the handset packs a satisfying assortment of hardware and software.

The HTC One VX runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, not Android 4.1 (or 4.2) Jelly Bean, powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor. You do get 1GB of RAM though and a microSD card slot (supporting capacities up to 32GB) to add extra storage.
The display is a big 4.5-inch qHD (960×540-pixel) Super LCD 2 screen and its 1,800mAh battery is not user-removable. For data, the One VX connects to AT&T’s 4G LTE network. The phone’s design isn’t bad, either, with smooth curves that are easy to grip. Of course the polycarbonate materials used in its construction aren’t exactly premium and can’t compete with the higher-end HTC One X+. The same goes for the One VX’s lower-resolution 5-megapixel camera as well.
Still this gadget could be worthy, especially considering its low upfront price. Check back soon for a full review.
