Add Chrome bookmarks to the Android home screen

When you open your Chrome browser on Android, you’ll probably be greeted with the last website you visited. This is useful if you want to look at it again, but if you want to visit a specific site, you’ll need to open your bookmarks and then tap the link. You can bypass that extra step by adding Chrome bookmarks to sites you want to visit most to your Android home screen. Here’s how:

  • Press and hold on the home screen you want the place the bookmark shortcut on. Select Widgets from the menu. Depending on your device, you may need to tap Apps and Widgets, or a similarly-named menu option.

  • Press and hold on the Chrome Bookmark widget, then drag it to the home screen of your choosing. There will need to be space on the home screen to successfully add a new widget.
  • Choose a bookmarked website from your collection. You will see the name of the widget’s icon change to the site’s name. Tap it to open the website.

You can add as many bookmarks as you like, and on as many different home screens as you like, space permitting. If you don’t see your bookmarks from your desktop available in the list, you may need to enable Chrome’s sync feature.
