Three unlocked, Android-powered Acer Liquid smartphones landed in Canada on Monday, aimed at more price-conscious users seeking style but not necessarily all the speeds and feeds. Running Android 2.2 Jelly Bean on an HSPA+ network, this threesome ranges in price and power, but all come in under $400 CAD.

The largest and best-appointed of the trio, the black Liquid S1 is a veteran by today’s standards, making its debut a year ago. Its 5.7-inch 1280×760 LCD screen pairs with a 1.5GHz quad-core chip, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera that supports 720p HD video playback, and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for taking care of selfies. It’ll cost $379 CAD.
Next in line, the $199 CAD Liquid Z5 that we saw in January sports a still-large 5-inch, a 1.3GHz dual-core processor, and a 5-megapixel camera on the back. Slimness is its main claim to fame; it measures in a svelte 0.3-inch profile. A multifunctional convenience key was designed to let you launch apps one-handed. You’ll be able to pick up the Z5 in white and grey, both of which are coated in a UV finish, Acer boasts, to discourage scratches.
Finally, the simplest and most budget-friendly of the bunch, the $119 CAD Liquid Z3 starts with a pipsqueak 3.5-inch HVGA display (480×320-pixel resolution), a dual-core processor, and a 3-megapixel camera. Unlike the others, it surfs the Web on a slower HSPA+21Mbps data connection. To help out its intended audience of seniors and first-timers, the Z3 comes with startup profiles aimed at four different types of users.
