Motorola Defy (T-Mobile)

1:08

Though it made its official debut three weeks ago, we haven’t had the opportunity to review T-Mobile’s new Motorola Defy just yet. So when Moto put the handset on display at the fall CTIA show in San Francisco we took the opportunity to give it a spin.

Moto is pushing the Defy as a rugged handset that is water and scratch resistant. And to prove that point, it showed the obligatory promo video featuring fun-loving hipsters using the handset at a zany pool party. Though those crazy kids splashed a fair amount of water on the Defy while snapping photos of cannonballs, it was still ticking the next morning.

The Defy’s design is similar to the Motorola i1, though rubber sidings and a soft-touch material on the back cover give it a sturdy feel. Front and center is a 3.7-inch WVGA touch-screen display with the usual Android customization options. There’s no physical keyboard so you’ll be using a virtual keyboard for typing messages.

Features on the Android 2.1 handset include a 5-megapixel with digital zoom and video recording capabilities, GPS, Wi-Fi, and support for T-Mobile’s 3G network. Check out our photo gallery and video for the beauty shots.
