Watch first trailer for the ‘Game of Thrones’ video game

While winter is very decidedly here for much of the Northern Hemisphere, we’re all still bracing ourselves for the winter that is Telltale Games’ episodic ” Game of Thrones,” which should land sometime before the end of the year.

On Thursday, Telltale Games posted a teaser trailer for the first episode of the six-episode game, and it looks to deliver the wit and bloodshed we’ve come to expect from the HBO series. The episode, called “Iron from Ice,” will put players in the role of several House Forrester members, taking them from the Forrester stronghold in Ironrath to the throne room in King’s Landing and beyond.

Ironwood, found in abundance in the ironwood forests surrounding Ironrath, will likely play a large role in at least the first episode of the game. “You rely on your ironwood, that much is clear,” Cersei Lannister says in the trailer. “It would be a shame to see it fall into the hands of another house. I imagine you’d do anything to prevent that from happening.”

After watching the trailer, I can’t wait for episode 1 of Telltale Games’ “Game of Thrones” to come out. The game should be hitting PC, Mac and Linux before the end of the year, with iOS and Android versions likely to follow shortly thereafter.
