Get excited, people — this is the Nokia X7. The Finnish phone floggers flouted the X7 today, but is it excellent or excruciating?
The X7 reminds us of the days when every phone wanted to look like a prop from Star Trek rather than trying to look exactly like the iPhone. It’s sleekly crafted from stainless steel and glass with a curved, hand-friendly back and cool angled corners.
The phone packs a 4-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 360×640 pixels. On the back is an 8-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, which also shoots 720p high-definition video.
Under the bonnet is a 680MHz processor, GPS, an accelerometer and 802.11n Wi-Fi. It comes with an 8GB microSD memory card.
The X7 will be one of the first phones to come loaded with the new Symbian Anna software update. Anna adds new icons, a portrait Qwerty keyboard and improvements to the browser and Ovi Maps apps. It also offers Facebook and Twitter updates on the home screen.
You can download apps and games to the phone from the Ovi Store. The X7 comes with racing game Asphalt 5 HD and sci-fi adventure Galaxy On Fire built-in.
Are you excited about the X7, or does it fill you with exasperation? Exalt, extol or excoriate in the comments or on our exuberant Facebook wall.
