Olloclip adds ultrawide

Olloclip’s latest iPhone camera lens will have you capturing more of a scene in a single shot.

The mobile-photography-accessory maker is adding the Active Lens to its series of slide-on camera lenses for the iPhone 6/6 Plus. It’s an ultrawide-angle lens that expands the iPhone camera’s field-of-view giving you something akin to what you’d find on an action cam like a GoPro .

For when you want to get more up-close-and-personal shots, the opposite side of the Active has a 2x telephoto lens. While that won’t bring you much closer to distant subjects, it narrows the iPhone’s lens to make it better for portraits.

Like the rest of the lenses in the iPhone 6/6 Plus lineup, the Active Lens slides onto the top of the camera so the lenses can be positioned over the rear- or front-facing cameras, so you can get more people into a FaceTime chat or group self-portraits.

Also, like the other lenses it sells, you’ll need to use a bare iPhone to attach the Active — or buy one of Olloclip’s cases designed to protect the device while letting you slide the lens on and off. The lens comes with three storage pendants for quickly clipping it onto something like a keychain or wearing it around your neck when not in use.

The Olloclip Active Lens is available for pre-order and will set you back $99.99 or £89.99. Pricing for Australia wasn’t announced, but the US price converts to about AU$130.
