The back-and-forth game among the top US wireless providers over family plans got more interesting Friday as both AT&T and Verizon announced promotions.
AT&T has adjusted its $40 and $70 Mobile Share Value plans, boosting data by 50 percent in both. Anyone opting for the $40 plan will receive 3 gigabytes of monthly data instead of the normal 2GB bucket. The $70 option allows for 6GB, up from 4GB. There is no expiration date for those plans.
In addition, AT&T has extended the deadline for its
on high-end family data plans to November 15.
The new rate plans are available to both new and existing subscribers.

Verizon, for its part, is boosting data for its $80 and $100 plans. New and current customers will now receive 10GB for $80 per month, up 6GB. The $100 option will get you 15GB of data use instead of 10GB.
In addition to the new rate plans, Verizon is also dangling a credit for anyone who brings their number over from a competitor. New customers who sign a two-year service agreement on a ported-over number or opt for the Edge plan will receive a $150-per-line credit.
Verizon has not announced an expiration date for its data plan.
