Lenovo IdeaPad U310 and IdeaPad U410 hands-on

0:49

CNET UK’s Luke Westaway got his mitts on Lenovo’s lovely pair of laptops at the CES 2012 show in Las Vegas this week. You’ll have to sit and watch the action for now, as the company’s latest ultrabooks await a spring release date in the UK. Then you can have a grope for yourself.

Lenovo has joined the throng of laptop manufacturers churning out MacBook Air-alike ultrabooks, but the mooted £600 price tag will put these laptops into a much more affordable bracket.

First up is the slinky 13-inch Lenovo IdeaPad U310. It’s not as razor-thin as some ultrabooks, but it’s a respectable 18mm thick and is free of too much heft, weighing 1.7kg. It’s said to have 8 hours of battery life, but whether that claim holds up will come out in the wash when we run it through our ferocious battery eater test.

It has a huge trackpad, which will no doubt appeal to those of you with particularly fat fingers, and it’s powered by Intel’s Core i-series processors.

If the U310’s screen is too wee for you, slip into a more comfortable size with the 14-inch U410.

Both are pencilled in for an April or May launch, so check back with CNET UK for the full review, and let us know what you think of them in the comments below or over on our Facebook page.
