Huawei MediaPad 7 Vogue moves to the music in leaked pic

Hey hey hey, fresh leaks have lifted the lid on a pose-striking Huawei tablet, reportedly dubbed the MediaPad 7 Vogue.

The tablet in the picture above comes courtesy of notorious leakster Evita @evleaks on Twitter. The tweet also points to a spec sheet for the mysterious gadget, which tips a 7-inch screen with a 1,024×600-pixel resolution.

Elsewhere, two processors are mentioned for different iterations of the slate, one with a 1.5GHz quad-core chip and one with a fractionally less powerful 1.2GHz quad-core processor. HDMI output is also tipped.

In other words this tablet is like a virgin version of Google’s Nexus 7 with a lower resolution screen. Cutting corners on hardware could help keep the price down, however.

Take all this information with a pinch of salt until Huawei gives some official confirmation, though the specs are certainly plausible, and Huawei has a history when it comes to 7-inch tablets.

The MediaPad 7 Vogue wouldn’t be the first device to take on Google’s tiny, wallet-friendly slate. At Mobile World Congress a few weeks ago I bore witness to a flood of near-identical 7-inch tablets — from the HP Slate 7 to the Lenovo A1000 by way of the Asus FonePad, in the wake of Google’s cracking tablet we’re facing a borderline epidemic of copycat gadgets.

So, Huawei MediaPad 7 Vogue, we can dress you up as a Nexus 7, but it won’t necessarily guarantee popularity with the tech-buying masses. Prospective buyers should look for a low, low price and some unique apps on board this new tablet before burning up any cash on this beautiful stranger.
