Loftek

This is an update (OK, “rerun”) of a deal I shared late last year — now with a lower price!

I’m always on the lookout for cool deals to share — especially if it’s not a tablet, Bluetooth speaker or pair of headphones. Even I get sick of those.

So the first time this product rolled around, I thought: “Cool! Different, slick and practical — just what the Cheapskate ordered.”

And it’s back! For less! For a limited time, and while supplies last, Loftek is offering its Portable LED work light (gray or yellow) for $45 shipped. That’s after applying coupon code JBP7RD2H at checkout.

A work light? What’s techie about that? Well, the LEDs, for one. But more important, the little guy relies on a rechargeable battery (which is what makes it portable), and that battery features a USB port that can juice up your phone.

Specifically, it’s an 8,800mAh lithium battery (twice the capacity of the previous version!) so it can either give you 4-5 hours of light or recharge a smartphone a few times. (Plan on something in the middle if you end up doing both.)

As you can see from the photo, the work light looks pretty traditional, all yellow (or gray) with black accents, but blasted with a shrink-ray set to “adorable.” It’s great for working in tight spaces, like when you’re vacuuming out the car or futzing with the cords behind your entertainment center. And speaking of cords, it’s extremely liberating to have a free-standing light like this that doesn’t require AC power.

In my tests I found it a little shy of super-bright, though its LED array throws the equivalent of a 100-watt halogen bulb. You can’t light a room with it, but it supplies plenty of illumination when you’re working on, say, a plumbing job under the sink.

I also like the sealed rocker switch and covered USB port, which allow the unit to work even in wet conditions (say, a plumbing job under the sink). And the included car charger lets you top off the battery while you’re traveling between job sites.

This is a pretty nifty item, something likely to find a permanent home in (or at least alongside) your toolbox.

Bonus deal: In case you missed it last week, you can once again get the Solove Roco 10,000mAh mobile charger for $26.99 with coupon code AI9WEPE2. That’s for the silver model; it’s also available in rose red (which, alas, is more pink than red) for the same price with the same code. If you don’t mind a bit more weight, consider the Solove Titan 20,000mAh mobile charger for $34.99, this time with code 2JQCJIFW. It’s available at that price in gray, green or silver. Both versions are as sleek and sexy as mobile chargers get. Highly recommended.
