This almost turned into an all-bonus-deals post, because as you’ll see below, I’ve got four extras that didn’t quite merit the main stage, but were definitely too good to pass up.
Anyway, first order of business: I’m always on the lookout for products I haven’t featured before, even if they’re not guaranteed to appeal to everyone.
Today only, and while supplies last, Amazon has the Dymo LabelWriter 4XL thermal label printer for $115.99 shipped. That may seem a little pricey, but not when you consider that the same model sells for at least $250 elsewhere. (At Staples, for example, it’s $279.99.)
This is probably geared more toward business users than the home crowd. The LabelWriter is designed primarily for printing things like address and shipping labels, though it can also be used for postage, name badges, bar codes and just about anything else label-y.
It offers a 300-dpi print resolution and supports labels up to 4.16 inches wide. Dymo offers a variety of label sizes that are compatible with the 4XL, and the printer can crank out a whopping 129 labels per minute (depending on size, of course).
Perhaps best of all: no ink. This is a thermal printer, so you won’t ever have to shop for ink cartridges.
Dymo offers desktop software for Windows and Mac, but, alas, no mobile-printing options. Also, this requires a USB connection to your PC; there’s no support for Wi-Fi. (Come on, Dymo, get with the 21st century!)
As I said, this isn’t for everyone — but if you need to print a lot of labels, there’s rarely been a better deal on a label printer.
Bonus deal: A couple weeks ago I wrote about the Motorola Moto 360 smartwatch, which was selling at Amazon for the mighty attractive price of $169.99. As of today, as part of a Father’s Day/graduation promotion, Motorola is selling the Moto 360 for $149.99. And so is Amazon! If you bought it for $169.99, contact Amazon pronto; chances are excellent they’ll credit you the difference. If you didn’t, well, this is a pretty sweet deal on a flawed but still very cool smartwatch. (Oh, what I wouldn’t give for iOS compatibility.)
Bonus deal No. 2: Got storage? Here’s an insanely cheap way to get more: Today only, and while supplies last, Staples has the Toshiba Canvio Basics 1TB USB 3.0 portable hard drive for $39.99 (plus tax). Shipping is free if you go the ship-to-store route, or have a ShopRunner membership, or sign up for a free Staples Rewards account. This compact, USB-powered drive comes free of bloatware; it has overwhelmingly positive reviews from some 200 Staples buyers.
Bonus deal No. 3: Freebie time! To celebrate its fifth anniversary, Digiarty Software is giving away two programs: MacX Video Converter Pro (Mac) and, if you scroll down to the bottom and share on Facebook, MacX iPhone iPad DVD Ripper (Mac). Fear not, Windows users: You can nab WinX DVD Ripper Platinum for free as well.
Bonus deal No. 4: Contest time! CNET’s giving away the 4-star-rated LG G4 phone, a 32GB microSD card, an extra battery and a battery charging cradle. Enter now!
