Apple confirms iPad to reach UK in late April

Apple’s aiming to clear up any confusion about the iPad‘s launch date, confirming that all versions of the tablet computer will be available in the UK in late April. The company’s also provided more concrete US release dates.

A specific date for the UK release is seemingly still to be decided on, but it gives us a warm tingly feeling inside to know that our colonial subjects Americans won’t have much of a headstart on us. They’ll be able to buy the Wi-Fi versions of the iPad from 3 April, with the models sporting both 3G and Wi-Fi following at a yet-to-be confirmed date in late April.

US customers can pre-order the Wi-Fi models from 12 March, but UK iPad fans with a predilection for prior-to-release purchases will seemingly just have to wait.

Apple has also said that the iBooks app and iBookstore will be available in the US on 3 April, with “additional countries added later this year”. Hopefully, that will include Blighty, despite earlier indications to the contrary.
