Cloud storage deal: Get 3TB for life for $75

Every so often I ask Cheapskate readers to name their favorite deals. One that continues to make the list (despite the funny name): Zoolz. What the heck is Zoolz? It’s a cloud-storage service, and a rather unique on at that. It’s also extremely affordable, at least if you take advantage of this deal: StackSocial offers …

Rumored Panasonic full

It’s a Photokina year, so it’s not surprising that Panasonic would be announcing something besides its Lumix LX100 II advanced compact, but the company has been firmly Four Thirds since its first interchangeable-lens model came out over 10 years ago. So the rumor that the company plans to show a prototype of a full-frame camera on Sept. 25 at the …

Phase One pushes the limits with 151

If you want a new camera to take your photography to the next level, you could get a 42-megapixel Sony A7R III for $3,200, a 50-megapixel Canon EOS 5DR for $3,900 or a 46-megapixel Nikon Z7 for $3,400. Huawei tried to pass off DSLR photo as smartphone selfie in new ad

If the selfie in Huawei’s latest Nova 3i ad looks too good to be true, that’s because it is.  In the commercial, we see several shots presumably taken by the phone’s front-facing camera, including one where a woman is putting on makeup and a man holds out the phone to take a selfie.  But a behind-the-scenes photo posted by Sarah …

Canon and Nikon are finally doing something about Sony’s mirrorless cameras

The Sony A7 III may be the worst nightmare Canon and Nikon have faced in years: a full-fat, full-frame camera for just $2,000. This could cut into their bread and butter — professional/prosumer cameras — at a time when smartphones have already devastated the traditional consumer point-and-shoot.  But apparently Canon and Nikon are just about ready to fight fire with fire …

Mad genius attaches telephoto lens to 20

Back in the Game Boy-era Nintendo released the Game Boy Camera. This plastic shooter would go into your Game Boy’s cartridge slot and let you take tiny black-and-white photos that were low-res even by ’90s standards. Two decades later someone decided to upgrade a Game Boy Camera by attaching an obscenely large telephoto lens. And the thing actually works and can …

Canon just stopped selling its last film camera

Canon is officially done with film. The camera-maker just announced that it’s ending sales of its last film camera, the EOS-1V. In 2006, reports said that Canon was ending production of all film cameras, but the company never officially confirmed this. Instead, Canon quietly stopped making them.  The EOS-1V is a 35mm SLR camera that released in 2000. Since Canon reportedly stopped …

Sigma 105mm f1.4 lens will ship in June for $1,600

Sigma’s latest addition to its Art line of wide-aperture lenses seems like it’s on the pricey side at $1,600, but when you consider that only Nikon offers a similar model for twice as much, this feels like a bargain if you can afford it.  Sigma plans to ship the 105mm F1.4 DG HSM full-frame lens in June in Canon, Nikon …

These crazy

Can a $40 over-the-ear headphone possibly rival one costing 2-3 times as much? No. Don’t be silly. However, a $40 over-the-ear headphone can look gorgeous, feel comfortable and sound pretty darn good. And because you read the headline, you already know that I’ve roped one for half that price. Check it out: For a limited time, and while supplies last, …
