We’re about to learn if Apple’s iPhone 12 is a smash hit

Apple’s iPhone is already one of the most popular consumer products ever. And normally, it’s a safe bet that when Apple makes big changes to the phone’s design, as it did with the iPhone 12, sales go into overdrive. But this past year has been anything but normal. In February, Apple warned that sales and manufacturing for its products were …

What’s in the Galaxy S21 box? Not much

Aside from a charging cable and some documentation, the new Galaxy S21 series (like the iPhone 12 family) arrive basically all alone in their box. Instead of placing your phone on the equivalent of an electronic coaster, the UTS-1 attaches to the underside of your desk, so there’s nothing visible on top. Just …

Apple needs to bring MagSafe back to Macs

I’ve relied on Apple laptops since 2004, when my older brother convinced me to give them a try. But in 2015, I stopped buying them all together. It’s not because I’m cheap, or that I’d switched away from Apple’s Mac software. I was participating in a not-so-silent protest against what I think was one of Apple’s biggest-ever design mistakes: Six …
