A Japanese man has been arrested for allegedly keeping his mentally ill son confined in a small cage for 20 years. The police arrested 73-year-old Yoshitane Yamasaki was arrested on suspicion of caging his son who is 42 at his house in city of Sanda in Hyogo prefecture, police told AFP.
More details are still awaited an investigation is underway. According to local reports, the son was forced to live in a wooden cage with one-metre high and 1.8 metre wide.
“I made my son live in a cage for more than 20 years because he has mental problems and acted up,” father had earlier told city officials as per the broadcaster NHK.
The son is said to be in stable condition but due to staying in a cage he is facing a bent back, said NHK.
