66-Year-Old Lift Operator Was The First To Rape The 11-YO Girl, All 17 Filmed The Act

A day after the arrest of 17 men accused of raping an 11-year-old hearing impaired girl in Chennai for nearly seven months, spine-chilling details of the shocking crime is now emerging. 

According to police, those arrested include a lift operator, watchmen, plumbers and water can delivery boys either working in or frequenting the apartment complex where the girl lives with her parents. 

Police believe some seven more men who also were part of the crime are yet to be arrested.

The cops said at least four of them have confessed to the assault and added that it was the 66-year-old lift operator identified as Ravi who first sexually abused the girl on January  15 when she was cycling around the building. He allegedly took the girl to an isolated place inside the apartment complex and raped her.

Over a period of next seven months, the girl suffered numerous sexual assaults from the other accused who also filmed the act to keep her silent.

Police have recovered a few mobile phones which contains the visuals of the crime from the accused.

The crime came to light after the girl began complaining about stomach aches, and on being asked by her mother she revealed the torture she had gone through for months.

Based on the girl’s parents complaint police arrested 17 men who were identified by the victim.

Meanwhile, the Madras High Court Advocates Association(MHCAA) has announced that its lawyers will not represent the accused in court. 

This came after the accused were roughed up by the lawyers and onlookers inside the court complex on Tuesday while they were being taken to jail.
