iPhone propels Verizon subscriber growth as profit rises

The iPhone continues to be a boon for subscriber growth for Verizon. The New York-based telecommunications giant posted a first-quarter profit of $1.69 billion, or 59 cents a share, compared with a year-ago profit of $1.44 billion, or 51 cents a share.
