Microsoft’s strict Windows 11 device requirements have one exception. What to know

Microsoft’s Windows 11 operating system is rolling out today. The new operating system doesn’t have the most lenient requirements for people who want to upgrade compatible devices. To do so, you’ll need 64-bit processors selected, 4GB of memory, 64GB of storage, UEFI secure boot and TPM 2.0.  Despite pushback from users, Microsoft said in an August blog post that it would keep …

The 15.6-inch Aspire Vero is one of Acer’s first laptops to ship with Windows 11 alongside updated versions of its ultraportable Swift 5 and entry-level Nitro 5 gaming laptops. The Vero is entirely new, though. Well, not entirely new, as it’s Acer’s first laptop made from post-consumer recycled plastics, and it ships in packaging made from recycled materials that are also 100% recyclable.  …

Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio review: The screen is all

Microsoft goes for sleeker and more sensible rather than ground-breaking with the 14-inch Surface Laptop Studio, replacing the dated docked-tablet of its Surface Book 3 and its 2015-era design. And it should go without saying that while this laptop has great battery life …

How the search for the next Steve Jobs is ruining Silicon Valley

Few people figure in the story of Silicon Valley as prominently as Steve Jobs. After co-founding Apple in 1976, Jobs was famously fired from the company in 1985. In a twist worthy of Shakespeare, he returned a little over a decade later to save Apple from near-bankruptcy, setting it on the path to become one of the world’s most highly …

For as long as I can remember, the iconic Windows Start button has been in the bottom left corner of my PC’s screen. It’s a predictable location for a button that’s a critical piece to navigating your computer, but in Windows 11, Microsoft has redesigned the taskbar. (You can check out CNET’s Windows 11 review here.) With the release of Windows 11 …
