Use SketchParty TV for Apple TV to entertain family this holiday season

SketchParty TV is an extremely fun app, built to entertain friends and family members for hours on end. I’ve personally used it with my kids, as well as a group of friends and both times everyone had a lot of fun.

What does it do? Using an iOS device and an Apple TV (second generation or newer), SketchParty TV turns your living room into an impromptu game of Pictionary. Or perhaps better said, it shows everyone just how bad of an artist you really are. But that’s part of the fun, right?

Through the app, an iOS device provides a secret word, as well as a canvas for the player to draw on. The television screen is where your teammates can view your sketches and attempt to guess the word.

There are two different ways you can use SketchParty TV with your Apple TV.

For second- and third-generation Apple TVs, you’ll need to mirror your iOS device to your TV. The easiest way to accomplish that is to open Control Center (swipe up from the bottom of the screen), then tap on the AirPlay button. Select your Apple TV, then slide the switch next to Mirror to the On position.

For owners of the new, fourth-generation Apple TV, you can download the companion app for SketchParty TV in the Apple TV’s App Store. When you’re ready to play, launch the app on your iOS device and Apple TV and it will take care of the rest.

SketchParty TV is priced at $5.99/£4.49/AU$9.99, which includes the option for you to create a list of your own words. There’s also a free version should you want to give the game a test run.
