When the Chromecast launched in Australia at the end of May, Presto announced that it would have Chromecast compatibility coming for its service by July. That’s up and running as of today, along with an Android Presto app that’s available on selected tablets.

According to Presto, it is the “only official launch partner” from Chromecast. EzyFlix, a relative newcomer to the video on demand market in Australia, had announced its Chromecast support back on June 12, claiming it as a first for the region.

Presto will be offering a one month trial of the service for anyone who purchases a Chromecast and the deal will extend to existing Chromecast owners who purchased after the May 28 launch date.

Presto offers movies via a AU$19.99 monthly subscription with no contract — you can drop in an out as you need. Some movies are also pay-per-view with additional fees.

While the appeal of using the service on the big screen via Chromecast is obvious, it should be noted that all content on Presto is streamed in standard definition.

With today’s announcement, Presto is now available on PC, Mac, iPad as well as Samsung Galaxy Tab and Note tablets, along with the Nexus 7 and 10. Android devices need to be running Android 4.1 or later.

Presto is also offering a separate trial period to News Corp Digitial subscribers, who can get two months free. This deal cannot be combined with the one month on offer for the Chromecast purchase.
