Foxtel Play offers special ‘Game of Thrones’ pricing deal

HBO

Foxtel Play, the IPTV service offered by Foxtel, is dropping the price on its Premium Movies and Drama pick for new subscribers who sign up between March 23 and April 30, with the add-on package costing AU$5 instead of AU$20.

The Premium Movies and Drama pack is home a number of popular series including “Veep,” “The Americans,” “Black Sails” and, of course, “Game of Thrones.”

Like Foxtel, Play customers build their own programming run by picking from a number of available genre packs. The first pick costs AU$25 per month, two cost AU$35, three AU$45 and it’s AU$50 for all four. From there you can add one or two premium picks: Sport for AU$25 or Drama and Movies for AU$20.

The price drop means that new subscribers can get a Foxtel Play subscription that includes access to Showcase — and the fifth season of “Game of Thrones” — for AU$30 a month for the length of the season.

The AU$5 cost is only for the first three months of the new subscription and at the end of the period the price will increase to AU$45. There is, however, no lock in contract — users can cancel their subscription when required.

In addition to the Showcase channel, Premium Movies and Drama includes nine movie channels and the new BoxSets channel.

HBO recently announced that it would simulcast season five . In Australia, this means the first episode, “The Wars to Come” will air at 11:00 a.m. AEST on Monday, April 13.
