“Breaking Bad,” the wildly popular AMC series that ended its 62-episode run following Walter White and his meth-making enterprise last year, is rolling out in 4K Ultra HD on Netflix.

More on Ultra HD 4K

Ultra HD is the latest buzzword to hit the television market. It describes high-definition video that delivers significantly higher resolution than current 1080p programming. In order to qualify as Ultra HD, videos — and the TVs that display them — must clock in at 3,840×2,160 pixels or greater. That’s four times the 1,920×1,080 pixels that make up 1080p programming.

Although getting “Breaking Bad” in full 4K is an important step for Netflix, few customers will be able to take advantage of the technology. In order to view Ultra HD video, you must have an Ultra HD television. Save for a few outliers, those sets are available for thousands of dollars or pounds.

CNET has contacted Netflix for additional information on the rollout. We’ll update this story when we have more information.
