Ever get the feeling you spend more time trying to choose something to watch than actually watching stuff? Tank Top cuts through the indecision by scouring all the places you can watch online and telling you at a glance the best way to watch your favourite movies — and it’s now added TV shows too.
Tank Top TV shows you where you can find films and TV shows across services such as Lovefilm, iTunes and Blinkbox. The site lists more than 73,000 episodes of TV shows available online, on top of 13,000 movies.
To get started, either browse the big colourful picture-based home page or search by genre categories. Then when you click on a programme, you’re shown which services have it available.
Because you can see the prices, you can quickly opt for the cheapest option without having to visit and compare each different service individually.
Tank Top searches 22 different online on-demand and download platforms to find you something to watch. That includes online stores such as iTunes, Blinkbox and Google Play; subscription streaming services such as Now TV and LoveFilm; telly catch-up services including BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4oD, Demand 5 and Sky’s On Demand service; and film-focused services including EE Film Store, KnowHow, Film4oD and Virgin Online Movies. When you get started, you can specify which services you subscribe to, so as not to be shown options that are no good for you.
One glaring omission is Netflix, which requested to have its catalogue removed from the aggregation service in August, as outlined in a blog post by Tank Top. At the time of writing, Netflix has not responded to a request for comment.
Similar services to Tank Top TV include Oric, which also has an app for iPhone and iPad.
