Is Samsung’s 85-inch Ultra HD S9 just not cutting the mustard when it comes to your big-screen needs?
Well, dry your eyes, gentle reader, because over in Berlin, the company is happily touting a 98-inch version of the same TV. There’s no pricing, but with the 85-inch model costing AU$40,000, we assume it’ll be priced at what might be considered “a premium”.
Less gargantuan and perhaps more interestingly, Samsung has also given IFA attendees a look at the prototype of its Ultra HD OLED TV.
We saw similar devices from Panasonic and Sony at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) back in January, and, like those, Samsung’s is a proof of concept rather than a TV you can expect to buy any time soon.
Michael Zoeller, Samsung’s European marketing director for TV and audiovisual products said the UHD OLED “demonstrates our technology leadership”.
The company has also shown off an Ultra HD TV with the same curved design as the recently launched OLED TV. According to the company, this is the first curved TV with Ultra HD resolution. A 1080p standard LCD with a curved form factor from Sony will be on sale in the US from next month.
