Samsung £4,000 4K UHD TVs coming to Currys, PC World

4K is coming to the high street. Currys and PC World are selling eye-melting Samsung 4K ultra high definition televisions from tomorrow.

The 65-inch and 55-inch 4K TVs will be available to buy online and order from stores. The 65-inch model will be in 15 shops.

Shops where you can take a look at the 4K TV and maybe take one home if you have upwards of four grand burning a hole in your pocket include those in Bristol, Birmingham, Glasgow, and Solihull.

The TVs packs quad-core processors and picture-enhancing gubbins, as well as Samsung’s Internet-connected smart TV bits and bobs. Like most TVs these days they’re 3D to boot; although they don’t have the clever ability to have two people watching different things on the same screen at the same time, whether it’s the football for you and Downton Abbey for your other half, or different multiplayer views when gaming.

The Samsung UE65F9000 Smart 3D Ultra HD 65-inch LED TV costs £6,000. The Samsung UE55F9000 Smart 3D Ultra HD 55-inch LED TV costs £4,000.

4K, also known as ultra high definition or UHD, is the next generation of television, so detailed you can see adverts on someone’s fingernails. There’s not much in the way of stuff to watch — apart from some classic films on Blu-ray — but they do upscale high definition movies and TV.

Sony is also heading for 4K, with its own £4,000 UHD TV.
