With the Chromecast now just over a month old in Australia, announcements of local services being compatible with the device are coming thick and fast.

Quickflix is the latest company to get on board with the media streamer, with both its iOS and Android app now offering Chromecast compatibility. It joins similar service EzyFlix and Presto, the movie streaming service from Foxtel, with the ABC iView app still to come.

This sadly pales somewhat compared to the US where popular streaming services like Hulu, Netflix and HBO Go all work with Chromecast.

Quickflix offers both video on demand and physical disc rentals services for DVD and Blu-ray. The streaming only subscription is available for AU$9.99 a month.

According to Quickflix, 60 percent of customers have streamed videos, with 8 million movies and TV episodes streamed. The volume of streaming traffic has increased by more than 20 percent per quarter.

According to Google, there are over 5000 developers that included Chromecast support in their apps. While these can be hard to find, there is a third-party app, Cast Store for Chromecast, to help locate them.
