Quickflix available on PlayStation 3 from 23 Dec 2011

After adding Quickflix to its Blu-ray players, home-theatre systems and Bravia TVs in November, Sony is about to make the movie-streaming service available on the PS3 console.

The free Quickflix app will be available from tomorrow (23 December 2011) from the PlayStation Store. You will, however, have to shell out some Australian pieces of eight to enjoy Quickflix’s catalogue of, primarily, older movies.

An unlimited streaming subscription will set you back AU$15 per month. For those who are already signed up to the company’s postal DVD service, streaming can be added to their accounts. Those on the Light account will need to shell out an extra AU$14 every month, and Basic users will incur an extra AU$8 monthly, while Regular and Ultimate subscribers will need to add AU$7 to their monthly expenditure.

A promotional offer will also be available to PS3 owners, with the first three months’ subscription reduced to AU$5 each, and two free Blu-ray rentals thrown in.
