Details surface for pair of HTC handsets ahead of release event

At an event it is hosting next Tuesday in New York, HTC is expected to announce its first devices tofeature Beats by Dr. Dre technology.

The two phones that should take the stage are the HTC Runnymede and the HTC Bliss. Specifications and press-ready images have surfaced for the two handsets over the past few weeks, painting a picture of an ever-evolving HTC product line.

We’ve told you already about the HTC Bliss. Long rumored with a September 29 launch date, it’s pretty much official that it will offer a 3.7-inch Super LCD display, a 5-megapixel camera (720p video), and an 8GB microSD card. As initially uncovered back in May, the Bliss also will come with a “charm indicator” light-up device that notifies users of incoming calls or messages. The phone is expected to run Android 2.3 Gingerbread with the custom Sense 3.5 user interface.

The Runnymede, however, is new to us. It should feature a massive 4.7-inch display, a single-core 1.5GHz processor, an 8-megapixel camera, and 16GB internal storage and be one of the first products on the market to include the Beats Audio technology.

Like the Windows Phone 7-powered Titan, the Runnymede’s display might be larger than most handsets on the market. Yet, bigger does not always mean better. The 800×480-pixel resolution is the same as found on the 4.3-inch Evo 4G and won’t look nearly as sharp as smaller, qHD screens such as the Evo 3D.

According to This Is My Next, there will be multiple SKUs offered to customers, some of which will include Beats headphones in the box. One final rumor suggests that a 32GB version of the device may also be made available to customers.

One thing is for certain, HTC has plenty to show off at the September 20 event. Aside from these two particular handsets, we also have a Vigor, Kingdom, Amaze 4G, and Holiday to look forward to.
