Breaking Bad ‘fast tracked’ on EzyFlix

The final season of Breaking Bad is underway in the US, with the usual minefield of online spoiler concerns for people watching from Australia.

Newly minted no-contract video-on-demand service EzyFlix has announced that it will have the remaining episodes available for purchase “within 24 hours of US broadcast”.

The popular show split its fifth and final season into two eight-episode runs, with the first eight airing last year and the final run starting on 11 August.

According to online episode guides, there are currently just five remaining episodes in the second half, airing weekly in the US (the next being 1 September), although the EzyFlix announcement makes reference to “the remaining four episodes”.

Foxtel is broadcasting the new episodes just five hours after their US showing, while iTunes is offering them roughly a day later.

However, it seems that much of Australia is turning to torrents for their fix of Walter White’s special brand of chemistry, with TorrentFreak recently reporting that Australians were responsible for an impressive 16.1 per cent of the global torrent traffic for the episode that aired on 11 August.

EzyFlix is charging AU$24.99 for HD versions of all eight episodes, and AU$19.99 for the SD versions. Individual episodes can be purchased for either AU$3.49 or AU$2.99, depending on your choice of resolution. No contract is required, and the files can be watched via a variety of devices.

This pricing is the same as what is currently offered on iTunes.
