New Wolverine film gets slashy six

The new Wolverine movie has been given a six-second airing, in what could be the briefest teaser trailer ever witnessed.

The lightning-pace clip, embedded below, shows the adamantium-clawed X-bloke slashing, grimacing and shouting his way through several seconds of action.

The trailer was posted to Vine, an app that lets you post six-second videos to Twitter or Facebook. Normally the app (which is only available on iOS) employs a smart phone camera to make the clips, so 20th Century Fox must have done some behind-the-scenes wrangling to get the trailer onto the service.

Although it’s only a few precious moments long, the clip gives away some details concerning the film. As you may have guessed from the teaser, it’s set in Japan, and will feature a return for actress Famke Janssen, who played Jean Grey in the other X-Men movies. The flick, which follows 2009’s iffy X-Men Origins: Wolverine, will be set after the events of X-Men: The Last Stand.

Upon seeing the tiny trailer my colleague Nick Hide contentedly remarked that he no longer felt he needed to see the film itself, which raises the question of whether there’s such a thing as a perfect trailer, or whether all pre-release clips spoil the experience of seeing a movie for the first time.

What do you think of the trailer? Are you excited about the film, or does it look like a heap of Jackman-scented hogwash? Let me know in the comments, or on our Facebook wall.
