Quickflix has bolstered its content offering with a new distribution deal that will see episodes of shows including “Mad Men”, “Weeds” and “Orange is the New Black” available on the streaming service.
The shows come as part of a new deal with international entertainment company Lionsgate, which holds distribution rights to the shows, as well as films such as “Saw” and “The Hunger Games”. Under the deal, Quickflix is offering its subscribers these “premium TV series” as it describes them, for an additional pay-per-play cost above their AU$9.99 per month subscription.
The service currently sells similar pay-per-play TV episodes and movies as part of its content offering, including recent release films which can be rented for 24 hours, and entire seasons which can be streamed for a one-off fee.
Quickflix founder and CEO Stephen Langsford said the company was “excited” to introduce Lionsgate’s shows to the Quickflix stable.
“Lionsgate has established a reputation for hugely successful and critically-acclaimed film and TV content worldwide and this agreement allows us to bring to audiences edgy TV drama series including those not previously broadcast on free-to-air in Australia and New Zealand,” he said.
The full raft of shows coming to Quickflix includes “Mad Men”, “Nashville”, “Nurse Jackie”, “Orange is the New Black” and “Weeds”.
