Couch potatoes with a Chromecast streaming stick can now take advantage of even more channels, including HBO Now.
Cord-cutters with an HBO Now monthly subscription and a Chromecast device have access to the network’s full lineup of TV series and movies using its Android and iOS apps, making it one of the easiest ways to catch up on series like “Girls,” “Silicon Valley,” “True Detective,” and more — all without the commitment of a long-term contract.
HBO Now started life earlier this year as an exclusive on Apple products — Apple TV, iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch — but it has since appeared on Amazon Fire and Android devices. (HBO Go, the nearly identical streaming video service, is even more widely available, but requires a cable or satellite subscription to HBO.)
In addition to HBO Now, Chromecast has also added Travel Channel and Food Network, as well as kid-friendly content like Pokemon TV and interactive games from publishers MediaMonks and BreakFirst.
