There’s still over a month before “Game of Thrones” returns to HBO, but the full-length trailer for season 6 of the hit series seems to take aim at some of the biggest rumors surrounding the show.
The 100-second tease, released Tuesday, starts from a bird’s-eye view drifting over the bloodied body of Jon Snow, who was the victim of a coup by his comrades at the end of season 5. The voice we hear belongs to Davos, who says simply “he’s gone.” Next, we cut to what appears to be Jaime Lannister’s boat sailing home from Dorne. Afterward, we see Jaime talking to Cersei.
What follows is a rapid-fire succession of images apparently meant to quickly check in with some of the main characters to see who else in Westeros is not gone…at least not yet.
We also get a preview of the sex and violence that will again fuel the next season. Cersei makes it clear that she has no intention to waste away in a cell while various armies appear to be mobilizing across the lands. There’s even a hint of a confrontation between the Night’s King and one very unlikely foe. The trailer’s accompanying music is a cover of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game,” sung by James Vincent McMorrow.
Check it out for yourself above. Season 6 premieres on HBO on April 24.
