BBC plans to broadcast every Olympics event live

If you live in the UK and love the Olympics, then the BBC has excellent news for you. The national broadcaster will stream or broadcast every event live.

In addition to broadcasting the Olympics across multiple TV channels (BBC One, BBC One HD, BBC Three and BBC HD) and radio networks (Radio 5 Live, Radio 5 Live Sports Extra and Radio 5 Live Olympic Extra), it will also transmit up to 24 live HD video streams online.

According to the broadcaster, this will ensure that every event can be watched live. The online video streams can be accessed via the BBC Sport website and mobile site, as well as from dedicated tablet and smartphone apps. Owners of compatible smart TVs or pay-TV boxes will also be able to access these video streams.

In a neat twist, the video streams on the BBC Sport website, mobile site and smartphone/tablet apps will be bookmarked, so users can skip back to important moments, such as presentations, medal-deciding moments or key plays.

And we had thought Foxtel’s eight live HD channels was going to be hard to top.
