No stranger to either stunning design or equally-stunning prices, the BeoPlay A9 from B&O Play ticks all the boxes. The A9 has a circular design that allows it to either be stood on its tripod legs or wall-hung, like a slightly-baroque, modern art installation piece.

Working with iOS or Android, the A9 packs in two 3/4-inch tweeters and two 3-inch midrange units, all driven by separate 80-watt class D amplifiers. An 8-inch bass unit is powered by 160 watts from its own amp, and there are three pre-set sound modes for wall, corner or freestanding positions, to “optimize acoustic performance” depending on where you put the device.

The legs come in different woods — of course they do — and people can choose oak, beech or teak, while the fabric options are silver, white, black, red, green and brown. Also, that AU$2690 cost is what the price starts from, according to the release.

We’ll be getting a look at the BeoPlay A9 at the end of October when they arrive in Sydney, and we’d be lying if we said were weren’t just a little bit excited.
