AFL Grand Final rematch not in 3D

Channel Seven has confirmed it won’t be broadcasting this Saturday’s Grand Final rematch in 3D this weekend, as the equipment used to shoot it will be needed for Sunday’s NRL Grand Final.

Last week’s contest between St Kilda and Collingwood ended in a draw and while viewers may expect the second game to be shown in 3D as well, Seven says this is not the case.

“All of that equipment is on loan from overseas and it’s already in Sydney,” said Seven sports publicist Simon Francis.

Francis said the specialist crew used to film both the NRL and AFL Grand Finals are the same and is composed of operators from Australia and overseas.

Meanwhile, the Telstra Premiership Grand Final between St George Illawarra Dragons and the Sydney Roosters begins at 5pm EDST on Sunday and will be broadcast in 3D in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
