As part of the celebrations surrounding the 50th anniversary of the ABC’s flagship current affairs program, Four Corners, the corporation has released a tablet app featuring classic reports and behind-the-scenes videos.
The free app is currently only available for Apple’s iPad. It contains 70 reports from the TV show, covering topics ranging from Vietnam and Hiroshima to police corruption, to women’s rights and drugs in society. There are also interviews with reporters and a short summary episode for each decade covered.
As videos are streamed over the internet, it’s recommended that 3G iPad users be on a Wi-Fi network when using the app, otherwise you may well go over your monthly data limit.
Unfortunately, the ABC’s iView catch-up service is no longer hosting classic Four Corners reports, or any of the show’s reports for that matter. This means that those wanting to watch these episodes on a big screen will need to hook their iPads up to the TV, while those without an iPad are fresh out of luck.
However, the complete range of reports filed from 2005 onwards is available via the Four Corners Video on Demand page.
