Telstra customers can finally subscribe to Foxtel TV on their iPhones, 18 months after the first iPhones were sold on the Next G network.
Australia’s largest mobile network today announced that customers using the iPhone will be able to access Foxtel TV services, which consists of 30 channels of pre-packaged video content. The service is available through the BigPond web portal and is not a stand-alone application download through the Apple App Store.
The telco also announced an enhanced compression codec used to create the content for iPhone, which the company believes will deliver an improvement in the quality of both the video and the audio. We’re yet to test this claim as the service was unavailable on the iPhone at the time of writing. The enhanced streaming experience is only available on iPhone now, though Telstra will be rolling out the improved service to other handsets in the coming months.
Telstra iPhone customers interested in Foxtel TV can subscribe for unmetered access for AU$18 per month, or can trial the service for AU$4 per day.
