Pinch, punch, first of the month — no returnsies. It’s February and the pre-Mobile World Congress phone rumours are kicking into high gear. Today we’ve heard whispers of the HTC Bravo and Supersonic, big-screen smartphones potentially running Android 2.1.
Our CNET US colleagues over at the Android Atlas blog have had their ears to the ground and dug up some specs and speculation on the Bravo and Supersonic. We’ll kick off with the Supersonic, which incidentally rhymes with gin ‘n’ tonic. It packs a chuffin’ enormous 109mm (4.3-inch) screen. Both phones boast a 5-megapixel camera and 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Supersonic is also rumoured to support Wi-Max, which could make it one of the first phones to access US carrier Sprint’s Sprint 4G wireless network. Sounds perfect for our friend who sits in a corner all alone — he lives under a waterfall, where nobody can see him, nobody can ever hear him call. Maybe his phone’s on silent.
The Bravo features a 94mm (3.7-inch) screen. It looks a good deal like the Google Nexus One but with an optical joystick instead of a trackball and the Sense UI slapped on Android’s front end.
Details on the Bravo and Supersonic are sketchy at present — we don’t even know if they’ll keep those names in the UK — but we’ll doubtless get our hands on them when Crave jets off to Barcelona for the MWC phonefest in a scant two weeks.
